After growing up around Leighton, Jeff Van Maanen attended Central College in Pella and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1978. He received his CPA certificate in 1979 and has been serving the Pella area ever since. In early 1983 Jeff moved to 713 Franklin Street to better serve the needs of the community. Today VSM&N no longer resides at 713 Franklin Street, however the store front remains a staple to Pella's downtown district.
Soon after moving locations, Don De Waard, who now serves as Pella's mayor joined Jeff as a partner in his tax practice. De Waard spent 13 years in partnership with Jeff and has been an active member in the community and an advocate for Pella's continual growth.
In June of 1986, De Waard & Van Maanen moved to VSM&N's current location of 705 Main St. Over the years this building has served Pella by being home to a variety of businesses. While it's surroundings have changed, 705 Main St as well as Jeff's practice has been a steady constant over the past 30+ years.
In 2003, Dave Sietstra became a partner in the firm. Melanie Meyer became a partner in 2006 & Brett Nikkel joined in 2014. VSM&N currently consists of a team of 13 dedicated professionals that are passionate about serving the needs of their clients.
Being a local firm, we are not afraid to lean into our values and what truly makes us unique. Each season for VSM&N has been a gift, and we are excited for what the future holds.
